Media Technology
Puerto Rico's mobile usage has increased over the years. From Index Mundi, Puerto Rico has 82.91 mobile phones per capita. However, Puerto Rico still has a lot to improve to advance in media technology.
Puerto Rico does not have the best access to internet. Even with 18 broadband providers in Puerto Rico, selections are limited on the island for service providers. BroadbandNow says on its site that there are 784,000 people that only have access to one wired provider, which means they must use that one if they want Internet even if they do not like the provider.
People are often unsatisfied with their provider because Puerto Rican Internet is slow. At least 1.4 million Puerto Ricans do not have access to a wired connection capable of 25mbps download speeds. However, slow internet is better than no internet. Another 1.3 million people in Puerto Rico do not have any wired internet providers available where they live, so their internet is limited to whether they have wireless internet that they can use, such as internet on their cell phones.
